Rachel Lindsay, renowned for her groundbreaking role as the first Black lead on “The Bachelorette,” and Bryan Abasolo, who won her heart during the show’s 13th season in 2017, have officially finalized their divorce. The couple, who wed in a romantic ceremony in Cancun, Mexico, in August 2019, announced their separation in December 2023, with Abasolo filing for divorce in January 2024, citing irreconcilable differences.

The dissolution of their marriage has been marked by intricate financial negotiations, particularly concerning spousal support and the division of assets. Initially, Lindsay was ordered to pay Abasolo $13,257 per month in temporary spousal support, alongside a $20,000 contribution toward his legal fees. This arrangement stemmed from Abasolo’s claims of a significant income disparity, alleging that his annual earnings had dwindled to approximately $16,000, partly due to career sacrifices made to support Lindsay’s professional endeavors.
In the final settlement, both parties reached an agreement that redefined their financial obligations and asset distribution. Lindsay will retain ownership of their North Hollywood residence, a 2023 Porsche Macan, and several personal assets, including artwork and bank accounts. Abasolo, on the other hand, will keep their Miami property, a 2021 Honda Accord, his Breitling watch, and interests in certain fitness-related LLCs. Notably, the temporary spousal support payments have been terminated; however, Lindsay is required to make a $500,000 equalization payment to Abasolo over the next year to balance the division of their assets.

The couple’s journey from reality TV romance to real-life marriage faced challenges, including long-distance living arrangements due to career commitments and the absence of a prenuptial agreement—a decision Lindsay has publicly expressed regret over, especially as financial disputes became prominent during their divorce proceedings.
Reflecting on their relationship, Lindsay acknowledged noticing red flags even before their marriage but felt societal pressure to maintain a flawless image, which led her to overlook these concerns. She emphasized the importance of recognizing one’s identity beyond relationships and the strength required to address personal challenges publicly.
As they move forward separately, both Lindsay and Abasolo have opportunities to focus on their individual careers and personal growth. Lindsay continues to make strides in media and entertainment, while Abasolo can now prioritize his professional endeavors without the constraints that previously impacted his career.
Their story serves as a reminder of the complexities that can accompany relationships formed in the public eye and the significance of clear communication and mutual support in navigating personal and professional aspirations.
